I've been on this for one week and it's been terrible. I want to add a general comment to all these posts
I've only been taking Wellbutrin XL for two days and I've developed this weird pain in my lower back and liver area. Seemed to help with the depression but the itchy rash and welts is scaring me. I was supposed to increase to 300mg in the second week. "And like the SSRIs', Wellbutrin's nonsexual side effects are pretty mild and often transient. It felt like my heart was skipping beats. Major Depression implies a prominent and relatively persistent depressed or dysphoric mood that usually interferes with daily functioning (nearly every day for at least 2 weeks); it should include at least four of the following eight symptoms: change in appetite, change in sleep, psychomotor agitation or retardation, loss of interest in usual activities or decrease in sexual drive, increased fatigability, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, slowed thinking or impaired concentration, and suicidal ideation or attempts. I do not crave caffiene or sugar the way I used to. Wellbutrin has not helped my mild ADD which I was thought was from depression but apparently is just me. When I first started taking the Wellbutrin I felt like I had supersonic hearing and was on edge a lot more and would have thoughts of yelling at people cuz I would get angry easy.

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL for a week and tomorrow will increase from 150 to 300. I only got a scrip for 30 days, if it's not working by then I'll quit taking it. I loved Zoloft but CAN NOT be 140 lbs when I really ought to be 115 . All I hear is ringing in my ears and I am hoping that it goes away. If you use the Wellbutrin extended-release tablet, the tablet shell may pass into your stools (bowel movements). Wellbutrin and Effexor are pretty different (Wellbutrin works differently from almost all other modern ADs), especially at 'just' 150 mg of Effexor, but not all doctors know this. I have side effects now! I can't stop shaking, my head hurts, and the worse thing is my pulse rate. I'd like to see if this helps after a months' time.

I started with 150mg of XR on the advice of my therapist & doctor about 3 weeks ago. Wellbutrin's rate dropped to 7% with the other medications dropping to between 23-30%. However, it did get better after the first week or so. , antipsychotics, other antidepressants, theophylline, systemic steroids, etc. Went back to the doctor and upped it to 300, which made a big improvement. I actually ended up in the ER 2 months ago due to my legs shaking (would not stop for over 48 hours until I got a dose of xanax-scariest experience of my life). Take bupropion with food if the medication upsets your stomach. At this point I am ready to stop taking all of these meds and start from scratch. of Wellbutrin XL and am glad that so many people have lost weight on it; however, I could look at food and gain weight. I have experienced a lot of anxiety since staring wellbutrin. OMG! NEVER AGAIN! But even the 150 is messing me up. I don't want to lose him and am really hoping this is it drug-wise. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor.

Comment:I just started taking Wellbutrin, I was on Lexapro since 2005 and I switched because of the weight gain over the past couple of years. If you have anxiety, this is probably not the drug for you because it really seems like it exacerbates the problem. Therefore, care should be exercised if it is used in these groups. Other severe reactions reported with overdose of bupropion alone included loss of consciousness, sinus tachycardia and hallucinations. I worked my way up very slowly, 25 mg once a day, 50 mg once a day, then Wellbutrin XL 150 mg in morning only. I am wondering if I would just be better off taking 300mg. After reading the other posts on here, I've definitely decided to stop taking Wellbutrin and go back on Prozac. The effects of concomitant administration of cimetidine on the pharmacokinetics of bupropion and its active metabolites were studied in 24 healthy young male volunteers.
